Biodiversa+ – the European Biodiversity Partnership – is pleased to announce that its BiodivMon Call for Transnational Research Proposals on “Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society” is now open. Deadline for pre-proposals submission is Wednesday 09 November 2022, 15:00 CET.
This call will cover the following three non-exclusive research themes:
- Innovation and harmonisation of methods and tools for collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data*
- Addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics, and trends to reverse biodiversity loss
- Making use of available biodiversity monitoring data*
*Czech applicants can participate only in the first and third topic.
The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) will support successful Czech applicants and their projects with the amount of 500 000 EUR of which a maximum of 170 000 EUR per project. Enterprises, research organizations and organisational units of the state can apply for TA CR funding. Funding rules for the Czech applicants are defined by a funding programme PROSTŘEDÍ PRO ŽIVOT.
A global budget of over 40 million euros has been provisionally reserved for the call and at this stage, the following 34 countries have expressed a preliminary interest in participating in the call:

PROV.BZ), South Africa (DSI), Litvhuania (LMT), Latvia (LSC), Hungary (NKFIH), Marocco (MESRSI), Moldavia (NARD), Germany (DFG, VDI/VDE-IT), The Netherlands (NWO), Norway (RCN), Poland (NCN), Portugal (FCT, FRCT) Austria (FWF), Romania (MoEnv, UEFISCDI), Greece (GSRI), Slovakia (MoE, SAS), Slovenia (MIZS), Spain (AEI, CDTI, FB), Sweden (SEPA, SNSA), ŠSwitzerland (SNSF), Taiwan (MOST), Tunisia (MHESR), Turkey (TAGEM, TUBITAK)
To be eligible, research consortia will have to include teams from a minimum of 3 countries participating in the call (including a minimum of two from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries).
However, for Czech Applicants to be eligible, results of the project must be applicable in the environment of the Czech Republic (Applicability of foreseen project outputs and their employment in the conditions of the Czech Republic will be assessed during the national eligibility check).
